4 Day Cycling/ Caving Adventure from Hoi An to Hue

(Hoi An ~ Bho Hoong village ~ Heaven’s Gate caving - A’Luoi ~ Hue)

(Route can also be run in reverse)

Day 1: Hoi An – Bho Hoong (70km biking - L, D)

Vehicle picks you up at your hotel and transfers for an hour to the trail head. Be prepared for a day of rolling hills that climb into the mountains and on to the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail. This afternoon you will be in the heart of the mountainous region bordering Laos, home to the Co Tu hill tribe, an ethnic minority community of isolated villages where tradition and culture have not been affected. We will continue on to Bho Hoong, a traditional Co Tu Village where we will stay for the night. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying the beauty of Central Viet Nam, or if time permits, we can take a light trek through the village and into the surrounding jungles and riverside.

Dinner will be served at the village with the traditional dishes of the local people.

Overnight in Bungalows in Bho Hoong Village **

Day 2: Bho Hoong – Heaven’s gate caving – Bho Hoong(B, L, D)

Cong Troi (Heaven’s Gate) Cave is a bridge connecting two separate mountains in the middle of a virgin forest near the Bhom Lom River. The cave is a gateway, through which you must pass in order to access an amazing expanse of untouched and unspoiled forest. Cong Troi is composed of both massive stalactites and stalagmites forming arches and pillars. These formations are caused by the deposit of minerals by water droplets over thousands of years.

Your day of discovery combines trekking through the river and tropical forest, rappelling 50 meters down into a cave, traversing 300 meters along Pra Zoong cave, and finally a 15 meter rappel down a waterfall. Enjoy picnic lunch at the bottom at the falls and have time to swim at a small pool near the base. Finally we will hike back to the main road to meet our van and transfer back to Bho Hoong.

Overnight in Bungalows in Bho Hoong Village **

Day 3: Bho Hoong – A’Luoi (80km biking - B, L, D)

A’Luoi is known as the site of many battles during the war between America and Viet Nam.

Today we continue the ride along the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail, climbing more mountain passes and winding along roads fringed by rainforest. Amid this stunning remote mountain scenery live the ethnic minority hill tribes of the Co Tu.

A stop at A Shau Airbase (US Marines) to learn how the local people still experience hardship caused by the aftermath of the war.

Picnic lunch is taken along the way. After lunch we continue our ride along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to A’Luoi town.

** Overnight in Do Thanh Guest House in A’Luoi **

Day 4: A’Luoi – Hue (70km biking - B, L)

Today we descend down to Hue. We enjoy the fantastic mountain views along the road, the rolling green hills and the crystal-clear streams running in between magnificent hillsides. We pass a bridge perched among the rugged banks of a small brook winding through scattered big rocks. A stop at Binh Dien Village to discover the life of local people on a rubber tree and coffee farm. Drop off at your hotel in Hue.

End trip.
