This unique 3 day cycling
adventure highlights 2 of the World Heritage Sites in
Vietnam, and goes into remote areas of the countryside where the cycling route
wanders through rivers, mountains, rice paddies, ethnic minority villages and
forests. Note that this itinerary can also be run in reverse from Hue to Hoi An
and that cycling days can be added to both the front and end of the trip to
take in other culturally important areas such as My Son and the Imperial City
(Hoi An - P’Rao - A’Luoi - Hue)
(Route can also be run in reverse)
Day 1: Hoi An – P’Rao (70km biking - L,D)
Today we continue the ride along the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail, climbing more mountain passes and winding along roads fringed by rainforest. Amid this stunning remote mountain scenery live the ethnic minority hill tribes of the Co Tu.
A stop at A Shau Airbase (US Marines) to learn how the local people still
experience hardship caused by the aftermath of the war.
Picnic lunch is taken along
the way. After lunch we continue our ride along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to A’Luoi
** Overnight in Do Thanh Guest House in A’Luoi **
Today we descend down to Hue. We enjoy the fantastic mountain views along the road, the rolling green hills and the crystal-clear streams running in between magnificent hillsides. We pass a bridge perched among the rugged banks of a small brook winding through scattered big rocks. A stop at Binh Dien Village to discover the life of local people on a rubber tree and coffee farm. Drop off at your hotel in Hue.
